Path and Inspiration
I am an Italian ceramicist and artist who worked as a painter for a decade, before returning to the ceramic medium in 2010. My painting background is discernible in my glazing technique and use of colour combinations. My source of inspiration is the Baroque architecture, with its complex architectural plan shapes, the dynamic opposition and interpenetration of spaces, its curvaceousness, and its array of rich surface treatment.Process and Practice
I create one of a kind stoneware ceramics, entirely hand built using a variety of techniques, such as press moulding, coiling and slab building. The prominent features of these vessels are the concave-convex spatial effects, the rhythmic distribution of mass and space, the richness in surface decoration and colour alongside an overall complexity of texture. Each piece is fired in oxidation at 1260 °C.
