Path and Inspiration
I create a range of decorative moon jars & functional wares inspired by the textures & colours of the sand, sea & forest of the Bawean island where I grew up.Process and Practice
My work utilises many different ceramics techniques - from wheel thrown functional wares to handbuilding slabs and coils to create sculptural pieces. Using a variety of stoneware & porcelain clays, each piece is glazed with my own formulated glazes, within layers of slips, oxides and natural wood ashes. I work in a modest ceramics studio in Sanderstead with fellow LP member Caroline (Purple Pots). In 2021, we launched our studio's brand of functional, handmade ceramics called The Quiet Corner.
