I took my first ceramic class at Morley College in 2006 and have been working with clay since then. Although some of my themes are well established, I do continue to experiment and work on a range of ceramics – from kitchenware pieces for my family, to tiles, and more abstract forms.
I love throwing, and most of my work is produced on the wheel. I transform thrown forms into different shapes and add textures and lines. I only have a short period of time during which the clay is malleable, so the process is quick and intuitive.
My work is inspired by nature, especially landscapes and natural forms. I tend to work with white clay and matt glazes, that I use in combination to allow me to fully explore forms, and add movement.
