Path and Inspiration
With a background in architecture and design, artisan maker Sophie has taken her love of texture and form to a smaller scale. From her base in Gloucestershire she designs and handcrafts a small collections of ceramic pieces, drawing on inspiration from the natural world for decorative themes and colour pallets.Process and Practice
Sophie collaborates with fellow artisans to create bespoke collections for restaurants, soaperies and pop-up shops and creates embellished plates, sgraffito, in-laid side dishes and bud vases for makers markets. She uses a range of stonework clays and a careful choice of slips and blended glazes to create depth, tactility and surface interest. Her choices also ensure these seemingly delicate items of tableware are all very practical.
