Path and Inspiration
I am interested in form and function. I usually start by making pots for myself, for a special dish or for friends before I make them into production. I like to keep things simple but I pay special attention to the function of what I am making, like for example, comfortable handles on mugs and jugs; generous low casseroles that I like to use for baking camembert with potatoes that I will scoop out with crusty baguette; jugs out of which I will serve cold water at the table etc.
Process and Practice
I throw everything on the potter's wheel, even baking dishes are thrown and altered. I make everything in my little studio in Woolwich, at a wonderful place called Thameside Studios. After bisque firing all the pots in Woolwich, I glaze them. I then take them to Oxford to be fired at the Wytham Woods anagama kilns site.
